"Merged" is a piece inspired by the surreal physical intimacy present in the soulmates myth of Plato's Symposium, wherein humans were originally created as a four-armed four-legged being and were split into two halves by the gods and left to wander the earth eternally seeking their other half. The evolution present in this piece represents this mythological idea of a perfect closeness, and the physical biology that would be fused together if the idea of a soulmate were to take on literal form.
